Mostly religious reasons in India...and culteral reasons in America.

They follow strict moral code that does not allow them to dress so conservatively. Things such as esposing face and other body parts would display an openness to the flesh. Also ths comes down from generations of women as well. Also, it would warrant unnnecessary attention, which is why mosy Indian women if they do bear midriffs, would wear a sari to cover up.

Cultural differences. Why do women go topless on French beaches, but get arrested for it on most American beaches?

Even a swimsuit is a big thing for an Indian girl. It is modesty. Is considered indecent to show a body in public. Only a few city bred girls wear a swim suit.

And Indian village girls bathe in rivers and ponds fully clothed! They are good natural swimmers and swim fully clothes which is wearing long skirts.

CULTURAL DIFFERENCES. In France for example, women can go topless on the public beaches,a thing which would promptly get them arrested for indecent exposure in the United States and most other places. Every culture has its no-nos,and Indian culture is simply alot more conservative than that of the US in very many respects. In Nigeria, the Indian sari would be considered risque amongst most conservative folks as it bares the midriff. The respectable Nigerian lady wants to look trendy but COVERED. A respectable American mother can wear shorts in public without raising any eyebrows but a respectable Nigerian mother until very recently indeed ,would only wear shorts at home,and even now, would probably not attempt a pair of shorts that exposed any thing above the knee, so as not to scandalise her inlaws at least. Muslim women are prohibited from wearing noisy shoes from what I'm made to understand. And in Elizabethan England, a maiden lady would be expected to bare her bosom nearly to the nipples as a sign of her virginity but keep her arms covered to the wrists or be written off as a wanton! It's all about the cultural environment.

Indian girls are more conservative than Americans, so they like to cover more of their body.

I tried my wife's one piece swimsuit on while drinking (rather heavily) one night and found it very comfortable!! Let's please refrain from the gay comments it is just a piece of fabric people not sexual at all!!

People are naturally judgemental, however, and will jump to conclusions. If you want to keep your reputation...I suggest you stay at the home pool in your one piece.

Uhh... Your "heavy drinking" shall deflect you from that, but under normal circumstances that's just weird. Are you self-conscious of your body or something? If you don't like some aspect of your body, either learn to be comfortable with it (just think, there's probably someone 200 lbs. overweight with bigger man-boobs than Maxi Mounds and more back hair than a wolf) or do something about it (e.g. work out if you're heavier, get creams if you have body acne, etc.)...

Or if all else fails and you want immediate gratification, wear a standard-grade T-shirt as a cheap option (not a white undershirt; the material may be too thin), or go all out and wear a full-body diving suit.

I would definitely do a double take. I would think that's odd, but I wouldn't think on it for longer than a minute. He's free to do what he likes. As long as he's appropriately covered to be around children I wouldn't care what he does.

Do: nothing. Think: The guy's in drag. Say: "look at that freak - either he's in drag or lost from another century". Get real. It's just not done. Tell you what - I would wear a Speedo and go topless if dudes start wearing womens one-pieces.

Are there a lot of people out there that are that ignorant that a womens body scares them?

The female athletes actually are better off. The sand that gets trapped in between cloth and the skin is very irritating. The less you wear in beach volleyball, the better off you are. The question that should really be asked is why the men are being forced to wear shirts.

You can get pretty modest swimsuits too or just get a regular swimsuit and wrap a sarong around your waist for a cool look.

I worry less about nudity than the violent movies people let their kids watch. Its a beach for crying out loud. Swim (bathe) and sun.

There are bikini thongs and bikini thongs. Some are mere postage stamps on a football field and others enhance the feminine mystique. The former in my opinion are attention-seeking trash.

In my opinion there is a big difference between womanly allure and downright flaunting of sexuality. In fact any woman who wears camel toe, minimal nipple cover thong swimsuits in public should be shamed. I have designed for strippers who wear more in public, the same who are considered by some to be trash.

In choosing a thong set look to the top first. If you have normal breasts - non-augmented - then go for a top that enhances your Bust shape like Halter necks or those tops supplied by Xen swimwear. No under-wires if possible.

As for the thong panty, Thongs should only be worm by women who can carry them off well. If not, wear them at your home pool where your husband or BF will appreciate you.

Be sure that you have no cellulite and not too much of a wobbly bum. If you have a flat or a drop bum do not wear the thong in a T bar fashion, as you will look as broad as a Bus.

Round and Pert bums do best in public particularly if they are Veed into the crease and flow with the body.

To those who think Thongs are disgusting in public, give your husband’s blinkers, loose weight; train yourself to have confidence in your relationship.

As for the Kids, they see more nudity in advertising, TV, and Internet, than at any beach or public pool.

I've always worn bikinis at the beach. I always wore a 1-piece for swim team. I've been going topless at my lake cabin for a few years when I could, but now I go nude as much as I can.

I am going on a trip to Florida April 2, and will be about 25 weeks pregnant at that point. If you have shopped for maternity swimsuits you know it sucks, so i found a cut halter style bikini top (with lots of support) and a pair of mens board shorts to wear at the beach. When i got home my boyfriend wasn't sure it is proper etiquette to show my pregnant belly at the beach or not. What do you think?

I'd wear a shirt over it. I know celebrities show off the belly, or the whole body like Demi Moore, but I don't think you should be so exposed. Personal opinion.

Make sure you wear sunblock and don't get too much sun. (Sorry, I'm being a mom!)

When I had my first child I her due date was at the beginning of September, so I was very pregnant during the summer. I tried and tried to find a good maternity swimsuit but couldn't find anything that fit or was cute. So just bought a bikini with a good underwire top and that worked great. I got lots of compliments on it. I wore a little halter top over it at times especially in the middle of the day for a little more sun protection. But in general my belly was just there for the world to see and people were very complimentary about it.

So if you are comfortable showing your belly then go for it. It is hard enough to find anything that fits during pregnancy, so if you find something that works then wear it.

When I was 26 or 27 weeks we went to puerto rico and I just wore one of my 2 piece bikini's that I had already. Nothing else on me is bigger except my stomach so it didnt look bad. Its whatever your comfortable with! Im almost 38 weeks pregnant now and I still have no stretch marks and I think I look awesome for being pregnant so I would still wear the 2 piece! Its really up to you though hun...Good luck and have fun in Florida!!! Its cold where I am right now lol.

I think it's fine. During both of my pregnancies I wore the same bikini that I do now. I saw no reason to spend extra money on a maternity bathing suit when I had one that would still fit me just fine.

If anyone has a problem with it, they'll just have to get over it. Besides, my husband told me I looked cute when I was pregnant and in my bikini. :)

its not for me, i have seen people do it, and i really dont like the way it looks. in my opinion, if no other time in your life, is the time for modesty. but i would never tell someone else that they cant do it, if that is what they really want, it is just not for me. only my husband, children, and midwife see my pregnant belly in all its glory

I think that if you are proud of your pregnant body - show it off!!! I'm not sure there is such a thing as 'proper etiquette' at a beach... unless you're nude. I think it's perfectly fine to wear a 2 piece bathing suit durining pregnancy. I am 24 weeks pregnant and I wear one. My husband loves it he thinks pregnant women are quite sexy. I say wear it, even if you have stretch marks, in my opinion those are just honor badges.

I'm 39 weeks pregnant and wore a bikini today. its my body and im proud of my child (i wish she would come out already!!) if people stare or make rude comments that's them being immature. 25 weeks is not big and as long as you're comfortable who cares what other people think.

I wore a 2 piece my first pregnancy at 32 weeks, stretch marks and all, so I vote it's okay. I'll be wearing a 2 piece this time around as well. There's always someone who will look worse in their swimsuit than a cute prego, so I go for it.

I've been wondering why we (girls) don't wear shorts at the beach or any swimming pool like guys do?

There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with wearing a two piece bikini. The problem is the poor judgement that many ladies have when selecting their swimsuit. It is good practice to make sure that your bikini is lined. well the whole seventh grade class is going to have a beach party all of my friends are buying swimsuits and getting reaDY MOST OF THEM HAVE 2 PIECES.my problem is im twelve almost thirteen and i look like im nine tenish and all the swimsuits in my size a baby ish wat should i do?? 1 piece or 2 piece???

You should wear a 2 piece, but you could also wear like a beach wrap skirt over the top so your not walking aroung in swim wear. One suggestion do't wear boardshorts.

I don't know if its legal,but I went on vacation there and there was lots of teen girls and young woman wearing them. I went 3 to 4 times. There was beach patrol there,and i never saw any girls get harrassed.

The style sorta depends on which coast you are living on. The West is different than the south, etc.. so I say get staple items that you are comfortable in.

I would wear my swimsuit all day! In the morning I might throw on a tshirt & shorts or a summer dress but most of the day I just walked around & laid out in just my swimsuit :) But If we went out at night I would always change...

Hi. Well I usually wear it from the morning until the afternoon and then change into clothes for dinner. Although I always carry a spare bikini just incase I'm going scuba diving or whatever and it might not dry in time, so I usually change into a bikini just to feel more comnfortable and if I'm going sightseeing I usually don't wear a bikini but normal underwear.

I wear my swimsuit under my clothes all day.

In a lot of places it is totally acceptable to wear thong swimsuits (Brazil, Miami, etc) but I couldn't imagine wearing them.

Yes, I think you would look great. Just make sure you will be comfortable in the bathing suit. I'm 5'11 and a size 10/12 and love running around in two pieces. However I'm comfortable. Otherwise, you won't be having fun if all you can think about is your body! But I think you would look great in a two piece.

Size 8 isn't big at all, especially for someone who's 5'9. I wouldn't worry about it. You probably look great.

There is no rule about how much you need to weigh in order to wear a bikini. It depends on if you feel comfortable or not. There are many women who are size 8's and have good bodies. Just because you're a size 8 does not make you fat. I have a friend who has the same height as you and wears a size 8. She's big boned and curvy, but her stomach isn't round or has rolls...her stomach is actually really flat! She's just wider that's all.

So go for it! As long as you feel good then don't be afraid of what others think. :)

Well it shouldnt be what other people thing about you although we all know that it is. You need to feel comfortable. Look at yourself in the mirror, if you have a "muffin top" and your stomach is sticking out then you might want to switch to a tankini, but if you feel comfortable then wear it. My GF and I are planning a trip to Rio in a few months when it will be summer there and winter here. She has purchased two thong bikinis for herself and matching thongs for me and she expects me to wear them there. Both of us keep ourselves in good shape and while I am not totally shy I am reluctant to wear a thong on a public beach. She says down in Rio people are not as inhibited as in the US and it is perfectly acceptable. Should I wear the thongs or hold firm to my wearing the shorts I would wear here? Or is there another altermative?

Pack shorts and thongs, wait till you get there, if you'd rather wear the shorts then wear them.

I found on Ebay on of these cool vintage Body Glove one piece swimsuit that was popular in the 1980’s. It is a black and yellows all neoprene with a sexy front zipper. I’ve try it many time at home and I look great in it. Do you think I can wear it to go scuba diving or to go at the beach?

if you like it wear it and screw what anyone else would think. if it looks good it looks good and it sounds like it's really cute. full peices are in right now kinda so im sure you wouldn't be the only girl on the beach wearing something like that style. if you really feel awkward just bring a bikini and change but i say go for it! I mean, if the waves took someone's swimsuit away, would they get charged with public indecency if they left the water?(Say their towel is in their house or car a few kilometers away.)

It would be illegal for them to get out of the water, and illegal for them to be in the water naked. Indecent Exposure, and where I live you could be considered a sex offender and have to put your name on a list every time you move.

i dont know if its illegal or not, but I always wonder, being a girl.. it's really easy to loose a string bikini..

It says everywhere that Zipolite (in Oaxaca, Mexico) is a nude beach, but every time I look for pictures anywhere on the Net, everyone or almost everyone is wearing a swimsuit. What's with that? I'm not looking for pictures of naked girls; I'm planning a trip and I want to know what to expect.

And, what's the best time to go? Regarding amounts of people, mood, etc... what's the best time for a person or a couple to go and get comfortably naked.

Probably because most people do spend time at the beach with swimsuit in the ON position. I think you have to understand that clothing optional beaches in Mexico are rare, don't believe any public Playa's are legal. That said it doesn't mean you won't find places where clothing optional is "Tolerated by the locals". Zipolite has the reputation of being one of those destinations where a beach allows clothing optional activities. There is a rather pricey private place south of Puerto Vallarta that offers a beautiful stretch of beach as clothing optional to its guests. I believe its called Punta Serena, never been there but its strictly for registered guests.

If look hard enough in Mexico you will find a few places where people go to enjoy the sun without a suit but they usually keep that information to themselves. Time? When the sun is high.

I was in Zipolite last easter, only saw one naked person (she was fat and old!) Nudity is not permitted, but tolerated. Zipolite is full of hippies and new age stoners, not much else to do there and the sea is really rough. 10 minutes south is a town called Puerto Angel, this is a nicer place to visit if you want slightly better restaurants and accomodation, but it is still only really a fishing port with very little tourist aimed activities. North is Puerto Escondido which has better nightlife, restaurants, hotels, etc.

what swimsuit should i buy 4 the beach? i have very dark hair and eyes. and i tan very easily.im going to the beach then disney world. should i buy a white 1 to show off my tan? also do u need a swimsuit 4 disney world?

Get whatever makes you the most comfortable to wear on the beach. Choose a suit that flatters your figure and your coloring. White suits do look beautiful on tan bodies. Just be careful because white suits can become see-thru if they get wet!!!

Disney Water Parks are seperate from Disney World Parks. If you are going to the Magic Kingdom you will not need a bathing suit in the park, there are no water rides in the Magic Kingdom. Animal Kingom has Kali River Rapids which is a wetter ride but not a water ride. Epcot doesn't have water rides either. The only parks that are water parks are Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach. Also, if you wear a suit to Disney World you may want a non-white suit because you will be eating and drinking all day long and if you get something on your suit it will certainly show! The most important things you can wear to Disney World are comfortable shoes and sunblock!

be sure to wrap a towel around your waist as you change to be sure that your privates remain private otherwise you can be charged with indecent exposure. (maintain a tight grip on towel)

As long as you don't parade around exposing yourself to everyone and their brother, I'm sure no one would care if you changed really quickly.

However it's not eactly legal, but it's like littering; no one's gonna report you.

I don't think I would ever do it again but that said, yes, I've done it once but it was at night and a mistake!

If you wanted a personal thrill then by all means do it. I just wanted the experience walking on the beach in my nylons but as I said it was a costy mistake.

Pantyhose and sand equal runs so if you want to ruin a good pair of nylons then by all means, wear them to the beach! I ruined a $10 pair of pantyhose that night just for the sake of curiosity. :(

If you go forward with your plan I forsee LOTS of runs and LOTS of people snickering at you! Good luck if you do ...
